Valentine Countdown #3: Chalkboard Watercolor Shimmer

This is the third installment of my Countdown to Valentine's Day with 10 posts of projects! This time I am playing with all kinds of supplies in my stash :)

This is an itty bitty little 3"x4" card made out of watercolor paper.
  1. I scored and folded the watercolor paper to create a top fold card. Then I laid it flat on my MDF board and taped it down with the blue painters tape.
  2. I used my Gansai Tambi black watercolor paint to create the background.
  3. I dried the paint with my heat tool and made sure it was really dry do I could heat emboss the flowers in white and the sentiment in gold.
  4. The gold did not show up well enough, so I used my Aqua-painter to lift some of the black paint off the paper.
  5. I used a fine detail paint brush with a tiny bit of water  and Perfect Pearls powder to paint the flowers. The colors of  Perfect Pearls I used are:
  • Sunflower
  • Interference Red
  • Interference Green
  • Mandarin
The last things I did were outline the cardfront with a chalk pencil, and then use up what was left of the paint I made with the Perfect Pearls to add stripes to the inside of the card.

See? Cute little wavy stripes :) And I made a coordinating envelope with some retired DSP. Go me for using the stash!

What do you think? Would you try this technique? I would love to see what you make if you do!!
